Obituary of Anthony Edward Nowak Jr.

Anthony Edward Nowak, Jr., age 90, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2026 surrounded by the love and comfort of family. Tony was born October 25, 1935 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Anthony Sr. and Anna Nowak.  A man of deep faith, quiet generosity, and thoughtful wisdom, Tony lived a life rooted in love, devotion, and steadfast care for those closest to him. 

Tony shared 64 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Christine. Together they built a home filled with warmth, faith, laughter, and unwavering support for their family. He was a proud and caring father to his daughters, Ann Nowak-DeFrates and Dorothy (Dave) Badia. He also lovingly remembered his son-in-law, Ray DeFrates, who preceded him in death in 2023. 

Tony was a cherished grandfather to Zachary Badia, Alexis Nowak, and Chris Badia, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and steady presence. 

Tony honorably served in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. His service reflected the strength and humility he carried every day. 

Tony dedicated many years of his professional life to ADT Security Company, where he worked as both an office accountant and installer. He was known for his analytical mind, strong work ethic, and dependable nature. 

Outside of work, Tony found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He enjoyed watching football, playing cards with family and friends, and most of all, spending time at home caring for the people he loved. His home was a place of comfort, stability, and welcome — a reflection of the man himself. 

A faithful Catholic, Tony lived his beliefs through quiet acts of generosity, compassion, and service to others. He will be remembered for his thoughtful nature, devotion to family, and the calm strength that guided him throughout his life. 

Though deeply missed, Tony’s legacy of faith, love, and dedication will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on June 6, 2026 at Our Lady of Consolata, 4306 Seeger St, Cass City, MI.  Fr. Robert Pare and Deacon David Gillespie will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church on June 6^th from 9-10am.
