Obituary of Barbara Joan Wolfgang

Barbara J. Wolfgang, age 93, our beloved mother and grandmother, left this world peacefully on May 26, 2026 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Standish, Michigan.  Barb was born in Sterling, Michigan on January 19, 1933, to the late Delos and Clara (Daniels) Marsh. She married the love of her life, Sidney J. Wolfgang, on March 17, 1951. They shared 71 years before his passing on September 11, 2022. Together they raised five children and were known for their beautiful yard and garden that they lovingly nurtured at their Sterling home.

Barb was a talented athlete as a young woman, playing basketball for her high school team the Sterling Hawks. Barb was an exceptional cook, and she and her husband enjoyed hosting enormous Christmas Eve feasts for the family for decades. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, camping and fishing, puzzles, crosswords and word searches, but especially loved spending time with friends and family.

Barb is survived by two sons, Sidney (Suzanne) Wolfgang, Michael (Mona) Wolfgang and two daughters, Christine Senske and Margaret Wolfgang, as well as son-in-law Raymond Peppel, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Harold (Gaynol) Marsh, sister-in-law Joy Marsh, Ronald (Jill) Marsh, Carolyn (Richard) Kujawa and Judy McKee.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Mary Lou Peppel and two grandchildren as well as siblings Phyllis (Leonard) Frey, June (Joe) Nagy, Ernest (Marilyn) Marsh, Clifford Marsh and Lawrence Marsh.
