Obituary of Ida Mae Woods

Ida Mae Woods, lovingly known as Ida, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Bad Axe, Michigan, at the age of 94.

Ida was born on May 2, 1932, in Bay City, Michigan. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and steady devotion, and she touched the lives of many with her loving, generous, and thoughtful nature. Ida lived her life with grace and purpose, always placing the needs of others before her own and finding joy in the simple but meaningful moments shared with family and friends.

Ida was a Christian whose faith guided the way she lived each day. She believed in caring for others with kindness and dignity, and those who knew her will remember her as someone who made others feel welcomed, supported, and loved. Her life reflected a spirit of humility and service, and she was admired for the warmth she brought into every room. For many years, Ida served as Dietary Manager at Bay County Medical Care Facility, where she was respected for her dedication and commitment to those in her care. She was a devoted mother to DeVere Woods and his wife Martha, Dean Woods, and Sarah Greene and her husband Thomas. She was also a proud grandmother to Matthew Woods and his wife Elena, Kathleen Woods, Cory Huizar and his wife Ellen, and Thomas Greene. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Huizar, Isaiah Huizar, and Hudson Huizar, each of whom brought happiness and pride to her life. Ida’s family was the center of her world, and she gave them her time, her care, and her unwavering affection.

Ida was predeceased by her parents, Lee and Edna DeFrain; husband, DeVere “Don” Woods; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Woods; and her granddaughter, Abigail Woods.

Ida enjoyed reading and watching television, and she appreciated the quiet comforts that made home a warm and peaceful place. These simple pleasures were part of the life she built with patience and gratitude. Whether she was spending time with family, enjoying a favorite book, or relaxing with a television program, Ida found contentment in everyday moments. Her life was a beautiful example of devotion, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the thoughtful way she cared for those around her.

Those who knew Ida will remember her as a loving, generous, and thoughtful woman whose presence brought comfort and reassurance.
