Obituary of Sandra Louise Weidman
Sandra Weidman, age 79, of Midland Michigan, passed away on June 19, 2026. She was born on February 24, 1947 in Mt Pleasant Michigan to Rex and Mary Combs.
Sandy lived her life the way she liked her coffee - strong, warm, and best shared with the people she loved. Every summer was spent at antique tractor shows, and every winter she could be found hauling her kids to snowmobile races all over the state. Making memories that her family still treasure today. She was the kind of Mom who showed up, pitched in, and made sure everyone was taken care of. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: coffee shared with friends, conversations around the kitchen table, and keeping up with the latest family news. Sandy loved hearing a good story and was never opposed to a little harmless gossip, especially if it came with coffee and cake. One of our favorite stories was about her cow named Sugar, how at the sound of her voice, Sugar would come running across the field. It is a simple but cherished reminder of her gentle heart and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on whenever a bingo number is called, the Detroit Lions take the field, and a familiar smile, recipe, or story reminds us that she is never far from our hearts.
Long after the coffee pot is empty, we take comfort in knowing that her love lives on in the people she touched. May we remember her every time we gather, spoil a rescue pet, or enjoy a piece of Texas sheet cake baked in her honor. Sandy taught us that life’s greatest blessings are not found in things, but in the people we love, the memories we create, and the stories worth retelling. She taught us to cherish one another, to love our families fiercely, and to find gratitude even in the difficult seasons of life. She spent her life counting her blessings and we will forever be grateful for the gift of having shared life with her.
Sandy is survived by her children, Rex (Kelly) Herkel, Kellie (Archie) Lester, Chriss (Reno) Herkel, and Kenny (Kayla) Herkel; her beloved rescue dog, Mindy; her siblings, Roy (Evelyn) Combs and Bette (Dave) Hainstock; grandchildren, Nick, Thara, Michelle, Roy, Lucas, Jake, Aubrey, Gage, Koury, Ashley, Carson, Vinnie, and McKenna; as well as many great and great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Weidman; and her son-in-law, Reno.
