Obituary of Christopher Michael Simon

Christopher Michael Simon, known to family and friends as Chris, passed away on August 1, 2026, in Bay City, Michigan. He was 65 years old. Chris lived a life marked by humor, kindness, and devotion to the people and passions he loved.

Chris was born in Bay City to the late William and Jeanette Simon on August 1, 1961. He grew up in Bay City and was a 1980 graduate of All Saints Central High School.  Chris began his career in restaurant and retail management, where his strong work ethic and easy manner served him well. Later, he applied his skills to a career in talent development for Michigan Works, where he helped others grow, succeed, and find opportunity. His professional life reflected his steady commitment to people and his ability to connect with others in meaningful ways.

Chris was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 414, where he served as a 4th degree Knight and as a trustee. He was honored as Knight of the Year in 2010, a recognition that reflected his dedication, service, and character. His involvement in the organization was an important part of his life, and he valued the fellowship and purpose it gave him. 

A man of many interests, Chris was an audiophile who loved stereo systems and built a large collection of LPs over the years.  He also loved cooking, Polka, and playing cards, and he enjoyed sharing those interests with others. Whether preparing a "secret recipe", listening to a favorite record, or sitting down for a card game, Chris brought warmth and personality to every gathering.

He is survived by his children Kristy (Chris) O'Malley and William (Laci) Simon, stepson Kevin Dowd, grandchildren Payton (Chris) Wyatt, Sean and Evan O'Malley, and Atlas Simon, all of whom who were a source of great pride and joy in his life.  Chris also leaves behind siblings James (Carmen) Simon, Robert (Marie) Simon, Kathleen (Arthur) Sigsworth, Dan Simon, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Chris was predeceased by sister-in-law Kay Simon and niece Elizabeth Sigsworth.

Those who knew Chris will remember him as funny and loving, a man whose sense of humor could brighten a room and whose caring nature made others feel welcome and appreciated. He had a gift for making people laugh and a heart that was always ready to give support, encouragement, and kindness.

A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 1503 Kosciuszko St., Bay City MI.  The family will be present at the church to receive visitors on Wednesday from 10:00 until the time of the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Knights of Columbus Council 414, Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Society, or the charity of the donor's choice.
