Born April 1, 1958 – Died August 31, 2024.

Gary Thomas Henning passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at MyMichigan Hospital in Midland surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 1, 1958 to Audley (Duane) Henning and Joan Luczak and was raised in Auburn, Michigan.

Gary served in the U.S. Army for 3 years (1975-1978), he owned a successful Glass & Wood business in Texas and then moved back to Michigan, where he was building homes until he started working year-round at the Michigan Sugar Factory, he worked as mechanic and control room operator until retirement.

You would rarely see Gary sitting around, he loved concerts, snowmobiling, all forms of racing, mud bogging, golfing, fishing, tubing, camping, especially the annual camping trip with his family. If he wasn’t doing those things, you would see him cheering at the grandkids sporting events. He never missed one of his grandson Ayden’s football practice or games!

Gary is survived by his best friend and son Garrett (Courtney) Henning from Bay City and son Tobe (Kelly) Moore from Missouri. One grandson, Ayden, two granddaughters Rain & Isabella, as well as grandpups Doc and Missy. Siblings; Debbie Barnes, Terry Henning, Scott Henning, Mark (Donna) Henning, Kim Henning, Duane Henning. And many cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends; as well as a special thank you to Gary’s nephew Ryan Henning and niece Angie Henning-Wright for having such a large impact and special love for Gary over the years.

He was predeceased by his brother Mike Henning and sister Colleen Henning.

Gary’s family would like to extend a huge thank you to the wonderful first responders, as well as the medical team at MyMichigan, Gift of Life and the Saginaw VA for taking such great care of Gary.

Honoring Gary’s generous wishes, the Gift of Life was shared with many people through organ and tissue donations.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 2-8p at the outdoor covered Pavilion at the Zion Lutheran 1557 W. Seidler Road, Auburn, MI 48611.
