Obituary of Robert William Rau

Rau, Robert William Midland, MI On June 25, 2021, the lord took Bob, age 80, into his care. Bob passed away at home with his wife Mary Decker Rau at his side. Bob was born February 4, 1941, in Saginaw to the late Clarence and Eunice (Stein) Rau. Bob married Mary Decker on July 17, 1988, and was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Before retirement, Bob was employed at Walbro of Cass City for 22 years as a production supervisor where he formed many special relationships that continued until his death. Before his time at Walbro, Bob worked as a successful hand grinder and machinist for many years in and around Saginaw, while raising his family. Bob enjoyed, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and all outdoor activities. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending 14 years as snowbirds at a home in Florida. Together one of their greatest adventures was the opportunity to snowmobile the Yellowstone National Park, but his greatest joy was family gatherings, the bigger the better. Bob also loved to sing, and often harmonized with family members at various gatherings. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Bill (Tracey) Rau of Lansing, Ric (Carol) Rau of Atwater Ohio, and Carole Anne (Greg) Boal of Sherwood Oregon; step-children, Jeff (Tammie) Auvil of Port St. Lucie Florida, Shari (Thomas) Bock of Cass City, Sandra Pawley of Cass City, Paula (Chris) Kipper of Port Hope, and Mark of Oregon. Bob was also blessed with 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Herbert (Janice) and Lawrence Rau; sisters, Marjory Corrigan and Kathryn (Wayne) Hubbell; brothers-in-law, Nick and Alonzo (Helen) Decker; sisters-in-law, Lillian (Virgil) Norgrove and Carol Decker; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceeded in death by his two precious daughters, Bobbie Jean and Marvonadee; his parents, Clarence and Eunice (Stein) Rau; and brothers, Ronald, James and Gerald Rau. Honoring Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place for family members and friends at 1:00 PM, July 7, 2021, at Brentwood, 178 Park Dr., Caro, Michigan.
