Byron Robinson

Obituary of Byron Charles Robinson

Byron “Bud” Robinson passed away peacefully at home after a brief but courageous battle with Leukemia. Byron was born in Saginaw Michigan on June 19, 1951 to the late William and Margaret (Davis) Robinson. He married Shelly Illikman, the daughter of the late Albert and Patricia (Lintz) Illikman on August 8, 1970 and they remained married until the time of her passing in 2019. Byron loved to cook and was famous for his wet burritos. Years ago he and Shelly were known for their unique cake decorating and candy making. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, shooting pool, gun collecting, and automotive repair. He was also notorious for telling stories. Byron was a generous man and would never turn down an opportunity to help someone, even those he did not know. He also celebrated nearly 30 years of sobriety. Cancer was not unfamiliar to him. Byron and Shelly both were a significant part in caring for their young grandson, Joshua Robinson who passed away in 2005 from Neuroblastoma. They spent countless hours at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor with him. He also lost Shelly and his mother to cancer. As for Byron, this was not his first battle with cancer, he defeated throat cancer in 2017. The radiation treatments that he had undergone lead to his form of leukemia. After losing his grandson, then his son, and then his wife, there was a void in his heart that could not be filled by anything or anyone. Byron accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and therefore was able to bravely leave this world to join those in heaven that he had lost and missed so much. Byron is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jamie Torrez; his daughter, Rachaell Brown; sister, Pam (Jim) Loos; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Robinson, Kathy (Art) Licht, Debbie (Lewie) Fuller, and Sondra Illikman; brother-in-law, Randy (Karen) Illikman; grandchildren, Tommy Reppuhn, Albert Kraenzlein, Matthew Torrez, Codi Reppuhn, Byron Robinson (Jessica), Jacob Robinson, Tyrin Graham, Cheyanne Graham, Nicholas Torrez, Mea Graham, Aashir Brown, Aashalina Brown & Aashiana Brown; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua Kyle Robinson; his wife Shelly; son, Timothy; brother, William Robinson; sister, Cindy Long and her husband Hoyt; brother-in-law, Gary Illikman; and sister-in-law, Cindy Illikman. He also leaves behind his good friend, Gena LaFleur; and his beloved dog, Missy. The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Bryon during his short battle.
