Obituary of Mary Catherine Sheehan

Mary Catherine (Kathie) Sheehan (Heenan) (1930-2021) East Tawas, Michigan Kathie Sheehan walked through the gates of heaven on Saturday, September 18, 2021, and was united with the love of her life and husband of 47 years, James A. Sheehan (1928-1999). At 90 years young and with a spirit of strength and dignity, she was steadfastly committed to walking by faith and always mindful that, “God still must have work for me on earth.” Loved and revered by all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she is survived by Charlene M. (David) Wingle of Portage, Michigan; Sandra K.(Al) Davis, of Suwanee, Georgia; Patricia A. Lippert of Evansville, Indiana; John A. (Gina) Sheehan of Poway, California; and Mary Jo (Tony) Schalm and Monica J. (Kevin) Humerickhouse, both of Tawas; 20 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. The persuasive matriarch of the family, she was the quintessential homemaker (baking and decorating wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes from her home kitchen), the home economist (establishing a vacation jar funded by picking blueberries and selling Christmas trees), the chief cook (always expanding dinner to include one more unexpected guest, one more friend, and at times stranded travelers), and the family cruise director (ensuring her family of eight was always where they needed to be and when, with Mass on Sundays and Holy Days at the top of her list). Later in life, she experienced joy in being a part of the Curves fitness community and, more importantly, providing comfort and end-of-life wishes for families as a Hospice volunteer. Kathie Sheehan had a strong and abiding Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, Michigan, where a Catholic Memorial Mass will be officiated by Fr. Nicholas Cooper on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. (EDT). In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Tawas Village, 910 N.
