Obituary of Diane Jane Draper
Draper, Diane J. of Frankenmuth, MI, age 83, passed away September 29, 2021, with her daughter by her side at Candlestone Assisted Living in Midland, Michigan. She was born on August 26, 1938, to the late Clarence and Georgianna Jensen in Flint, Michigan. She grew up in Flint but spent most of her adult life in Frankenmuth. She was a member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church and the “Bag Ladies”, Job’s Daughters, and the Order of Eastern Star.
Diane was a fixture in the Frankenmuth community, where she made many friends. Diane enjoyed her time as a crossing guard for Frankenmuth schools, and at Satow’s Drug Store waitressing and cooking. She was active with 4H Pacesetters, Gleaners’ Bavarian Arbor, Flint Unit Marine Corps League Auxiliary, and the Frankenmuth Farmers Market, where she passed out sandwiches she made to the vendors. She enjoyed helping others and was a talented crafter, spending much of her time sewing for children and the community. Diane was an avid reader who loved Frankenmuth’s James E. Wickson District Library, a love she shared with her grandchildren over their childhood summers.
She is survived by her children, Dana (Steven) Draper-Rosin, Douglas (Sherri Kast) Draper of Midland, MI; grandchildren, Caitlyn Chapman (Andrew) of Midland, and Amanda Richards (Derrick) of O'Fallon, IL; and 3 great-granddaughters, Abigail, Delaney, and Margot Richards. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary A. Gregg.
