Obituary of Leona (Thomas Trischler) Lecours
LEONA THOMAS TRISCHLER
1932-2021
Leona Thomas Trischler, age 88 of Unionville, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at her home in Unionville. Leona was born December 10, 1932 at her parent’s home in Thomas Park, Unionville, to the late Clare and Manila (Moore) Thomas.
Leona found her love of water working side-by-side with her father and siblings at the family owned and operated C.A. Thomas Fisheries where she grew up on Saginaw Bay. She and her twin sister Leota along with their siblings operated the fishing boats that ran on the Bay. She worked many jobs, including 20 years at the Caro Regional Center working her way up to Hospital Children’s Worker. Some of her many hobbies included boating, poetry, ceramics and traveling. In April of 1950, she married Joseph Trischler of Unionville and they had 6 children, 32 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Later in life she enjoyed many world travels, including several trips around the world, while sailing the seas. She always spoke of the many wonders of the Lord's creation after her travels. She wrote books about her life and many poems, some of which have been published.
Leona is survived by her children, Jane DeGroat, Michael (Debra) Trischler, Gloria Trischler, Betty Martinez, and Joseph (Victoria) Trischler. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Joseph Trischler Sr.; her siblings, Arline (Al) McKay, Elspeth (Francis) Koepf, Harley Thomas, Clarene (Murwin) Ainsworth, Vern (Wanda) Thomas, Leota (George) Trischler; daughter, Georgia MacFarlane; and granddaughter, Lulu Martinez.
