Obituary of James McMorris Gehrke

James “Jim” Gehrke of Freeland, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the age of 85, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. He was born March 6, 1936 in Clearwater, Iowa to French and Nellie Gehrke. Jim was a family man, father, much-adored grandfather, and friend to everyone. He enjoyed playing the guitar, traveling, working on projects, and spent most of his career in the carpet business. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Mary “Boots” Gehrke (Rashke); children, Bernie Gehrke (Tina), Angie Mullen (Steve), James Gehrke, Nancy Gehrke (Mike Wiegand), and Brian Gehrke (Mary Leinberger); grandchildren, Julie Minielly (Adam), Christine Voice (Nick), Jasara Woulf (Kyle), Darcy Gehrke, Bryan Mullen (Mari), Terri Mullen (April), Sheila Mullen (Tim Webster), Rose Haines (Jerry), Nicole Haswell (Adam), Katie Brooks (Tyler), Amanda Young (James), George Mullen, Levi Leinberger (Claire), Sage Leinberger (Ryan Henry), and Brock Leinberger (Reese Nagy); and great-grandchildren, Ramsey, Sebastian, Oscar, Cecelia, Kennedy, Lawson, Maverick, Quinn, Owen, Grace, Natalie, Paige, Avery, Lucas, Jerry, Kendra, Dean, Axel, Allie, Arlo, Lincoln, Lewis, Haven, Ava, and Kallen. He was preceded in death by his parents French and Nellie Gehrke; sisters, Jean Crider, Joyce Langel, June Stout, Jane Skaggs; grandson, Elijah Mullen; and great-granddaughter, Julia Mullen.
