Obituary of Robert William Wenzell
Robert William Wenzell went home to be with the Lord December 4th, 2021. Bob was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend. He was born in Detroit, MI on October 21st, 1949 to Edward and Dorothy Burlingame Wenzell. He grew up in St. Clair Shores graduating in 1967 from Lakeview High School. Right after high school he joined the US. Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1967-1971.
He married Karen Jones on June 10th, 1972, and they had four sons whom Bob cherished: Jeffery (Abbey), Matthew (Katie), Bradley (Monica), Christopher (Tracy) and special niece Barbara Clements. Our dear papa leaves his 12 grandchildren, the joys of his life; Alexis, Allyson, Tyler, Abbye (Ryan), Madeline, Kendall, Matthew II, Nathaniel, Easton, Belle, Evan and Addyson Wenzell.
Bob was a Saginaw Police Officer from 1972 until retirement because of Multiple Sclerosis in 1995, During his time as a police officer he coached many years of FOP Little League Baseball down at Hoyt Park.
Bob had a strong faith and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Not a day went by that Bob didn’t mention how blessed he was. He treasured his shut-in visits with the pastors throughout the years, also.
He leaves two bothers- in- laws, Daniel (Sharyl) Jones, James (Nancy) Jones, many nieces and nephews. He leaves his two dogs Baxter and Winne who gave him hours of entertainment and love.
He is preceded by his in-laws, Daniel and Helen Jones, two sisters-in-law Gail Jones Clements, and Kathleen Jones, and brother- in- law Timothy Jones.
Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Bob Wenzell. We will gather together on Thursday December 9th from 10:30-12pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church on the corner of Bond and Court St. To remember our wonderful friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral Service to follow at 12 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
