Obituary of Jerome Joseph Schafer

Jerome Joseph Schafer, age 87, of St. Johns Michigan, passed away on December 8, 2021. He was born on February 8, 1934, in Fowler, Michigan, to Edward and Laura Schafer. He worked at General Motors for 39 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed playing cards, rides in the country, watching Andy Griffith and Gunsmoke, and spending time with his family. He was a hard-working man with many skills. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Marie Schafer; sister, Theresa Stump; his children, Sandy McMahon (Kevin), Sheila Rolandson (Lars), Sharon Jegla (Dan), Susie Schneider (Pat), and Steve Schafer; seven grandchildren, Amy Buonopane (Eddie), Melissa McIntosh (Mike), Kyle McMahon, Ryan McMahon, Brendan McMahon, Laura Dainton (Michael), and Eric Jegla; seven great-grandchildren, Anabella and Cora Buonopane, Lillian and Leo McIntosh, Scarlett, Cora, and Silas Dainton; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 13, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 545 N. Maple Street, Fowler MI 48835, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial Contributions to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Right to Life of Clinton County.
