Obituary of Edward Frederick Bredow, Jr.

Edward F. Bredow Jr. “Ed” passed away peacefully, on Monday, December 20, 2021. Ed was born on October 13, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. He married the love of his life (Colleen) and together they raised their 7 children in Dearborn, MI. Ed worked for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn and retired at age 55. They moved to the Daytona Beach area, and later enjoyed spending time in Kalkaska, Michigan and spending winters in Florida. In his free time he enjoyed tinkering in the garage, renovating houses, restoring older model Jeeps, playing bridge, hunting, fishing and golfing. He developed a golf ball retriever, E-Z-Trieve, for which he was awarded a patent and recognized at the IMPEX convention in 2000. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic church in Mancelona, and formerly at Our Lady of Hope in Port Orange, FL. Left to cherish his memory is daughter Christine Levi of Mancelona; daughter, Charissa (Scott) Bredow-Shawcross of Kalkaska; son, John Bredow of South Lyon; son-in-law, Patrick Weyburne of Midland; daughter, Eileen (Mike) Walsh of Beaverton; and Jim Bredow of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Kastura, Letitia (Mike) Fecher, Joshua (Jana) Weyburne, Jessica (Kevin) Bandy, Cameron Shawcross and his fiance’ Crystal Roxas, Megan Shawcross and her fiance’ Thomas Horlacher; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Mason Kastura; Thomas, Luke and Nora Weyburne; Brayden Shawcross; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; wife of 67 years, Colleen; son, Edward Bredow III; and daughter, Darlene Weyburne. A Mass and Memorial service will be held in the late Spring/early Summer in Kalkaska. Memorials can be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society P.O.
