Obituary of Jacqueline Grace Cook
JACQUELINE “JACKIE” GRACE (NOTT) (KANE) COOK – Age 85 of Mt. Morris Township, beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.
Jacqueline was born October 30, 1936 in Ferndale, MI, the 1st of 3 daughters born to John William Carlton Nott and Bronwen Emma (Lewis) Nott. Jackie lived with her family in Ferndale and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. That same year she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Henry Kane. That marriage produced 4 beautiful daughters. They lived in Royal Oak until their divorce in 1969.
In 1970 Jackie married her 2nd husband, Thomas Richard Cook. They moved to Swartz Creek with their son Scott Thomas Cook, along with her 3 youngest daughters in 1972. They divorced in 1977.
Jackie worked many different jobs over the years, but her time at West Flint Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant to Dr. Thomas Baes was her most treasured. She loved working there and taking care of the animals.
In 1991, Jacqueline returned to Ferndale to care for her mother before her death. Jackie stayed in Ferndale/Royal Oak until 2018 when she moved to the Flint area to be closer to her children.
In her youth, Jackie enjoyed spending time cruising and drag racing down Woodward Avenue. Jacqueline loved all animals, but German Shepherds and horses were especially her favorites. Later in life Jackie discovered a love of painting and created many beautiful works of art that she cherished. Jackie also enjoyed spending time watching the Detroit Tigers on TV.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents John and Bronwen Nott, her 1st husband, Robert Kane and her precious and loyal companion of many years, her favorite dog Shetan.
Jackie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her 4 daughters Roberta “Bobbie” (Jerry) Jones of Millington, Kelline “Kelli” Pritchard, Crystal Kane-Wright, Carolyn “Carrie” Kane, all of Mt. Morris, and her 1 son, Scott (Kelly) Cook of Corunna. Jackie was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She also is survived by her sisters, Virginia “Ginny” (Fred) Roskelly of Royal Oak, Patricia “Patty” Matyas of Beulah and 4 nephews as well as her 2nd husband, Thomas Cook of Burton whom she wishes to be buried underneath of.
