Mrs. Stier, age 91, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday January 20, 2022. Mary Ellen was born on July 12, 1930 in Ecorse, Michigan to the late James and Florence (Livernois) Gougeon. Mary Ellen was a medical transcriptionist for St. Joseph Hospital, Tawas retiring after many years of service. Mary Ellen loved spending time with family and friends. She loved music and enjoyed playing the organ, singing and dancing.
Mrs. Stier, is survived by her children, Christine (Gordon) Stephenson of Oscoda and Guy (Sandy) Vance of AuGres. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Kari (Anthony) Root, Kellie (Robert) Selkirk, Richel (Kevin) Kubik, Michael (Beth) Gay, and Rachael Goodroe; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kamron, Raymond, Makaela, Caylen, Kaden, Kameron, Aydria, Zeelan, Brecken, Kash, and Payton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Collis Stier and Jack Aspin; her son, Joe Vance; her twin brother, Robert George Gougeon; and nephew, George Gougeon.
