Obituary of Kenneth Wayne DeLong
Kenneth “Bud” DeLong, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 17, 2022, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side.
Bud was born September 29, 1945, to Darwin and Violet DeLong in Midland, MI. He attended school at the Floyd Country School and Midland High School. Following high school Bud joined the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Cold War. After his service, Bud met the love of his life, Diane and they were married in May 1967, sharing 54 years together. Bud was employed as a Journeyman Millwright for General Motors as well as starting his excavating business which he continued to operate until retirement. Bud loved working on his farm, especially watching the geese flock to the pond each spring. He also enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including giving rides in his 1914 Model T and proudly showing off in parades and car shows. Bud loved his pond and was well trained by the fish in it. He enjoyed collecting model trains, and traveling throughout the United States with his loving wife and lifelong friends.
While he truly enjoyed his hobbies, Bud's true pride and joy were his family. He is survived by the love of his life, Diane DeLong, his daughters, Kathy (Dan) Brandow of Santa Fe, NM, Vickie (Corey) Deborski of Bay City, as well as a group who he would argue are the best grandkids in the universe: Hayden and girlfriend Tara, Lauren, Ethan, and Sarah. Bud is also survived by many friends and extended family members whom he loved very much.
Bud’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff from MyMichigan Hospice who cared for Bud and his family as he passed into eternity.
Memorial services for Bud were officiated by Pastor Steve Gulick and held at the Floyd Church of God, in Midland. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com Arrangements made with Cremation Society of Mid Michigan
