Obituary of Ruth Eleanor Claytor Marsh

Ruth Eleanor Claytor Marsh of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on February 22, 2022, at the age of 94. Ruth was born on October 13, 1927, to John and Roberta Claytor (both deceased) in Roanoke, Virginia. Ruth was a member of Countryside Trinity Church for a few years, after having been a lifelong member of Warren Avenue Presbyterian Church, until Warren Avenue closed. She also enjoyed many lunches, dinners and other activities with her good friends who referred to themselves as the Widow’s Club. Ruth is survived by her children, Michael (T’sha) Marsh, Walter (Francine) Marsh, and Terésa (Monroe) Gray; five grandchildren, Steven (Samantha) Marsh, Anitra Marsh, Courtney Cross, Vernon Marsh, and Devin (Ernest) Marsh Gillespie; and one great grandson, Jordan Cross; four siblings, Bernice Boddie, Roberta Palmer, Walter Claytor and Margaret (David) Woodbury; numerous nieces and nephews; and “adopted” daughter, Marcia Goffney. Ruth is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, former Mayor Henry G. Marsh and three brothers, Will Claytor, John Claytor, and Ralph Claytor. In honor of her personal request, Ruth will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be scheduled by the family for a future date and location. In lieu of flowers, those sharing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Saginaw Chapter of Habitat For Humanity.
