Obituary of Eugene Frederick Pomranky

Pomranky, Eugene F. Midland, Michigan Eugene (Gene) F. Pomranky, age 81, of Midland, Michigan, passed away at home on March 26, 2022. He was born on July 11, 1940 in Midland, to the late August and Edna (Emery) Pomranky. In 1957, he joined the US Navy, and served until being honorably discharged in 1966. On January 15, 1971, he married Julia Anne (Houvener) and they raised four children together. Through the years, he worked several different jobs from dump truck driver, mobile home hauler, tree-cutter, construction worker, and maintenance worker, retiring in 2002 as a maintenance worker from Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Midland. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. Gene is survived by his wife, Julia; children, Lisa Stowits, Shawna (Edward) LaLonde, Cheryl Thompson, and Christopher Pomranky; 12 grandchildren, Joshuah (Emily) Stoddard, Nathan Stoddard, Haley (Matt) Turmell, Evan LaLonde, Zachary LaLonde, Adrianna Thompson, Gabriella Thompson, Julianna Thompson, Andrue Thompson, Cody Pomranky, Zayne Pomranky, and Beau Pomranky; 6 great-grandchildren, Madison, Jaxson, Emma, Greyson, Fynn, and Charlotte; his brother, Ernest (Laurel) Pomranky; and sisters-in-law, Ann Pomranky and Alice Pomranky. He was predeceased by his brothers, Walter Pomranky, Clare Pomranky, David Pomranky, Phillip Pomranky, and Elliott Pomranky; and sisters, Leona Dopp and Eleanor Hollingshead. In keeping with Eugene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and dinner will be held May 1, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Midland Township Hall, 1030 S. Poseyville Road, Midland, Michigan 48640.
