Obituary of Jose Antonio DeLeon
Jose Antonio DeLeon, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his home in Bay City, Michigan. He was 79 years old. Jose “Tony” was born on August 23, 1942 to the late Teodoro & Gregoria DeLeon in San Benito, Texas. He married his wife Cathy in 1992, and they spent 30 happily married years as best friends, making each other laugh, camping, and enjoying time with family and friends. He was a skilled jack of all trades who could build or repair everything from a home to a pickup, and he passed this knowledge on to his children and grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and generosity. He rarely sat still and could always be found “puttering” with projects around the house, tending his large backyard garden and spoiling his dogs. He loved to travel and provided his family with many treasured memories of road trips to Texas and spontaneous rides up north with no predetermined destination.
He died at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Cathy DeLeon, his son Robert (Cherie) DeLeon, his step-children Carmen (Scott) Lorentz, Herb (Theresa) Lorentz, and Rae’Ann (Dave) Garcia; his grandchildren Vanessa, Robbie, Paul, Savannah, Austin, Evan, Katelyn, Brenden, Trevor, Jacob, Isaac, Thomas, Mason, Ethan, Carmella, Julianna, Dominic; his great-grandchildren Diego, Aiden, Vincente, Cecelia, Veronica, and Coulter; his siblings Gilberto, Juana, Abelina, Ramiro, and Estella; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several siblings and his great-grandson Gavin.
A celebration of his life will be held on May 1, 2022 from 12-3 pm at Lincoln Rd Hall, 79 S. Lincoln Rd, Bay City, MI 48708. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to send an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
