Obituary of Roy Elmer Schumacher
Roy Elmer Schumacher was born June 20, 1935 and died May 24, 2022 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was a life-long resident of Sebewaing Michigan and worked at Michigan Sugar in Sebewaing for over 40 years. He loved traveling, his swimming pool, his children and grandchildren, camping, listening to music, drinking cold beer, and his beloved friend and righthand man- Dan Kuhl, with whom he spent over 20 years at Kuhl Lumber. The last year of his life was spent at the Tuscola Medical Care Community where he made many friends.
Roy first married Ruth Ann Jahr on October 15, 1956 and they had 2 daughters together. Ruth passed away on September 13, 1997. He later married Beverly A. Prime Gangler Schumacher on February 14, 2003, and they enjoyed going to Frankenmuth, Polka music, playing cards together, helping and spending time with people, and his favorite bands -The Burketts & The Ewalds.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jack) Parker; step-daughters, Christine Gangler, Cindy Gangler, Connie (Ron) Lesoski; step-son, John Gangler and his life partner Sonya Crittenden Kavouras; grandchildren, Stacie and Ryan Morrish, Ryan and Victoria Parker, and Josh and Lyndsay Parker; step-grandchildren, Jason & Pina Beach, Christy Sawyer, Tim & Laura Sawyer, Thomas, Becca, Jalen, Sheila & Mike VanAllen, Kim Lesoski, Ronda & Jeremy, Marlena, Christian, Kayla, Jada, Steven, and Kelly; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Austin, Karlie, Viviann, Lily, Eli, Emmett, and another great-grandchild due in September; step-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brady, Bryson, Coral, Ollie, Liam, Stone & Kat, Kaitlyn, Cameron & Destiny, Courtney & Cole, and Pharrell. Also surviving are great-great-grandchildren, Paisley and Colton; step-great-great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lillian, and Riley who is due in August; siblings, Elmer (Sharon) Schumacher Jr., Jack (Frieda) Schumacher, Connie Gangler; siblings-in-law, Larry & Karen Prime, Joyce & Ronald Nickerson, Barbra & Richard Parsell; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Vicky, brother Harry, sisters Barb and Marilyn; and brother-in-law Bob Gangler.
The family would like to thank everyone for all of their gifts of time, food, prayers, and visits.
