Doris Catherine Stoklosa
Our Loving Mother, Wife, Grandmother, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 14, 2022. Age 95 years.
Doris was born May 26, 1927 in Freeland, Michigan to the late Alex and Beatrice (Hill) Williams. She married her lifetime partner Chester Stoklosa on November 1, 1946, and he predeceased her on July 24, 2011.
Doris loved the Lord and was a member of her church until her debilitating disease took her from it. She worked at many jobs in her lifetime, her first was at Hill’s Tavern helping her Aunt Della keep their bar running when she became ill, also at the TB ward in the County Hospital in Saginaw. She then went on to Cosmetology School, and whenever anyone needed their hair done, she would always volunteer. Her most favorite times were being the loving care giver to all her grandchildren throughout the years, as well as her nieces. She was an avid seamstress making clothes for herself as well as all her children. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She took cake decorating classes and always made cakes for birthdays and all occasions for family celebrations. She was very nurturing and was always there to help whenever someone asked. She loved spending time with her family, that was her most favorite. She loved animals of all kinds, horses, dogs, cats, birds, and even our raccoons. Doris took dog grooming classes to groom them all. She was a great horseback rider and worked on her parent’s farm, and loved to go hunting in her younger years with her dog Chubby. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Surviving are her sons, Gregory Stoklosa of Saginaw, MI, Barry (Dixie) Stoklosa of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter, Susan Stoklosa of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren, Kari (Andrew) Stoklosa, Brei (Garrett) Wilson, Rachel (Alex) Garza, Jacinda (Chad) Herner, Sean (Megan) Galaviz, Jonathon (Ann) Stoklosa, Alaina Galaviz, and Ryleigh Galaviz. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Gianfortuna; her sister-in-law, Patricia Williams; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Shane Stoklosa; and her brother, Gary Williams. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be scheduled. She will be entombed next to her loving husband Chester at Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw, MI.
