Boggs, Cameron Carl (Cam)
Bay City, Michigan
Cam, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday July 25, 2022 at his residence. Cam was born in Central Lake, MI (Antrim County) on January 8, 1932. Son of the late Carl C. and Irma D. Boggs. He grew up on the family farmstead (Central Lake, MI) in the 1930's. During the great depression, his father, Carl, found work in Bay City (Defoe Shipbuilding Company) and purchased a property on Alp Street (in 1940) of which Cam would reside for the rest of his life. Cam was the recipient of multiple city awards recognizing his effort in home improvement, including "Pride of Ownership," "Bay City in Bloom Recognition" and appreciation from the Bay County Historical Society for historic preservation. Cam retired in 1984 from Bay City GM Powertrain after 38 years of service. He then worked for Patterson Service for 13 years (1986 - 1999), was a book keeper for the Bay City Bowman Club, and enjoyed spending weekends at his cabin (Oscoda county). Cam had a passion for automobiles, antiques, animals and wood working. Following his retirement in 1984, Cam restored his 1930 Ford Model A and entered it in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. He volunteered (1980-84) for the Bay City Fireworks Festival and at Wolverine Fireworks Display. On July 4, 1980, Cam extended the Bay City Fireworks finale by 30 minutes through a generous financial contribution in remembrance and celebration of his parents life. He was a regular parishioner at the old First Baptist Church (Madison and Center St.) where he was back-up organist during Sunday worship. Cam is predeceased by father Carl Cameron Boggs (1896 to 1974), mother Irma D. Boggs (1904 to 1984), and eldest brother Reed Boggs (1930 to 1983). He is survived by and will be forever missed and deeply loved by best friend Scott Greyerbiehl and his beloved dog Junior. Keeping to Cam's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service at this time. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home and the Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan for all their care, and express sincere gratitude to the staff at American Home Health Care and Hospice for their expertise and warmth.
