Obituary of Eugene Thomas Millard
Please share a memory of Eugene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eugene “Gene” T. Millard of Midland, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at MyMichigan Health Midland on Wednesday August 3, 2022, at the age of 55 years. He was born in Bay City on July 31, 1967, to Darlene Kreger (Guoan) and the late Ronald Millard.
Following his 1986 graduation from TL Handy High School, he served his country by joining the U.S. Navy, from which he was honorably discharged. After returning to Bay City, he attended Delta College and was a proud member of the “Creature Corner” Society. He later moved to Midland and settled there with his family.
Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a friend to many, he could always make friends with anyone he encountered, and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Gene enjoyed woodworking, tinkering, and fixing things. Even if he did not know how to do something, he would work at it until he figured it out. He was a very curious-natured person and sought to understand the “why” of things, leading him to be the person that family and friends called on for help.
He is survived by his mother, Darlene Kreger; wife, Virginia Millard (Lambert; sister, Kristine (Phillip Smith); brother, Ron Armstrong; daughters, Brittany Millard, Maegan (Kevin) Lake, and their mother Shari Millard (Hawe); daughters, Gabrielle Millard and Catherine (Joshua) Church; step-daughter, Caitlin Lambert (William Bodeis); grandchildren, Jeffery, Declan, Quinn, Harrison, Jasper, and Teddy; and many special nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gene will also will be missed by his dog, Cinna, and his mother’s dog Tiny. Gene was predeceased by his father Ronald Millard; his step-mother, Carlyn Millard; his brother Jeffery Millard; and uncle, Jim Guoan. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A life celebration will be held at 11 am, Monday August 15, 2022, at New Life Vineyard Church, 1014 E. Ashman Street, Midland, with Pastor Dan Schaffer officiating. A private intermittent will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
