Kay MacVicar
5/4/1939 – 9/5/2022
Saginaw, MI
Kay, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on September 5, 2022 at the age of 83. Kathleen Marie Klatt was born to John and Marguerite (Newman) Klatt on May 4, 1939. She graduated from Saginaw Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1957. Kay grew up in Saginaw and was an entrepreneur from a young age when she was parking cars on her grandparent’s property near the Saginaw Fairgrounds to earn money to buy a bike. She was artistic and turned her love of painting into a business when she opened an art gallery in Frankenmuth in the late 70’s. She also had a custom frame shop in the early 80’s. From there she became interested in antiques and was an antique dealer for the past 35 years. She owned an antique store in Houghton Lake and had a booth at The Antique Warehouse in Saginaw. There wasn’t much Kay couldn’t or wouldn’t attempt to do when her creative mind had an idea. She was talented, witty, kind, smart, sassy and she could definitely light up a room with those blue eyes and beautiful smile.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Mark Kalkman; her daughters, Pat (John) Armstrong and Tracy Fruge; her step-daughter, Bonnie Deladurantaye; 11 grandchildren, Shawn (Ashley) Kabobel, Paul (Samantha) Schrems, Anthony (Jessica) Schrems, Alyse Schrems, Joe (Kelsi) Deladurantaye, Will (Lauren) Armstrong, Jared (Emily) Friske, Sam (Larry) Deladurantaye, Michael (Sierra) Armstrong, Gavin and Reis Fruge; 7 great-grandchildren, Jace, DJ, Lilah, Serenity, Quinn, Owen and Aubrey; her ex-husband and friend, Don Kalkman; siblings, Noreen (Don) Nelson, Pat (Wally) Ackley, and Rick (Kim) Klatt; her special grand-pups, Harley and Jerry; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Kay was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Klatt; her husband, Robert MacVicar; and her daughter, Lori Schrems.
Kay’s family would like to thank the staff at Mary Free Bed at Covenant Healthcare, Covenant VNA Hospice especially Carly for the care and comfort given to Kay and the family and Dr. Minoo Khetarpal for the extraordinary care she gave Kay through the years.
