Hansine M. Bleich was born June 13, 1927 in Antigo, Wisconsin, only child of the late Peter M. Ecklid and Lela (Pleoger) Ecklid.  She was a 1945 graduate of Antigo High School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Milwaukee State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee).  She taught in Racine, Wisconsin and Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Hansine earned an MA in Education at the University of Colorado – Boulder in 1958.  She married Horst Bleich at First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs on August 23, 1958. Hansine retired from Mid-Michigan Medical Center’s Business Office in November 1992. 

She loved to read and travel, and enjoyed volunteer work very much, volunteering at MidMichigan Medical Center for over 25 years.  She had taught English to foreign-born at the Colorado Springs U.S.O.  In Midland, she was a Boy Scout den mother, Girl Scout neighborhood coordinator, volunteered in the Plymouth School library and was a “Picture Lady” as well as room mother many times.  Hansine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Circle, the church quilting group, and had taught vacation bible school for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Horst; son, Peter (Susan) of Troy, MI; and daughter, Marta of Downers Grove, IL; grandsons, Christopher, Teddy, and Nicholas, all of Troy, MI; a sister-in-law, Ida of Dannenbuetel, Germany; and several cousins. Hansine was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Martin Harald; parents-in-law, Eduard and Martha Bleich; brothers-in-law, Harald Bleich of Dannenbuetel, Germany and Helmut Bleich and sister-in-law, Elsa of Gifhorn, Germany. 

Hansine has been cremated per her wishes, and will be placed in the All Saints Memorial Garden at Trinity Lutheran Church.
