Kelly Ann Flattery
Frankenmuth, MI
Kelly Flattery, a loving mother, daughter, and friend passed away at the age of 62 on Saturday, October 22, 2022 surrounded by love and support from family in her mother’s, Sally Haiser, home, just as she had wished, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Kelly was a kind and compassionate soul that had the ability to brighten and positively touch all those that she came in contact with. From her time working at Kmart in Saginaw, MI to Nexteer Automotive, Kelly developed strong friendships and a deep sense of community with every organization. Before leaving work due to her health, Kelly was an active member with the UAW 699, volunteering her time and serving on election committees. When embraced with community, Kelly flourished and did all that she could to help those around her. After her diagnosis, she became an active participant of Covenant Hospitals Cancer support group, where she found everlasting bonds with her “Breasties” Aamy, Becca, Melissa, and Nicole.
Kelly had a passion for all creatures, especially her family and friends four-legged companions. She took much joy in visiting alpaca farms, participating in goat yoga sessions, helping to train dogs at the local doodle breeder, and spoiling her “Grandchildren”. Most importantly was her love for her standard goldendoodle, Reggie, who was a pillar of comfort and support until his passing.
After her Diagnosis in early 2019, Kelly chose to embrace life and live it to its fullest. Kelly could be found spending her time expressing her creativity by crafting, winemaking, and crocheting. She also took her time to explore and experience the world around her. She became a passionate kayaker, bike rider, and world traveler. Kelly will leave behind many memories of exploring nature, trying new experiences, and seeing new destinations with her friends and family.
Kelly is survived by her husband William Flattery; two children Joseph (Destinee Kachel) and Heather; Mother Sally & Stepfather Robert Haiser; Sister Laura Keeven, Brother Mark Hensel, & step siblings Marci, Bill, Joe, & Kendra; beloved aunt Mike King. She is preceded in death by her father Richard Hensel and beloved dogs Sassy, Charlie, and Reggie.
As were her final wishes, there will be no funeral services and Kelly will be cremated. However, Kelly wished to have a celebration of life after her passing.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Brant Rifle & Pistol Club, 9300 S. Raucholz Rd., Brant, MI 48614, beginning at 1pm. All family, friends, and anyone who has been touched by Kelly’s presence are encouraged to come and share stories of their time spent with her while enjoying some of her favorite treats.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at give.bcrf.org, or to your local animal shelter and humane society.
