Obituary of Katherine Anne Britton
Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Katherine Anne (DeFrain) Britton, 55, of Essexville died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 11, 2022 after a courageous life-long battle with Lupus. She was a beloved daughter, sister and loving aunt and friend. Kathy had a love for life and was always up for an adventure.
Kathy was born on November 17, 1966 in Bay City. She was one of four children, daughter of Gerald and Maxine (Kolb) DeFrain. She graduated from Bay City Western High School in 1984 and from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education.
Kathy worked for the Bay City Public Schools as a middle school science teacher for more than 20 years. She made a big difference in many young lives over her years of teaching.
Kathy was an athlete in high school, pitching for the Western Warriors softball team. She enjoyed traveling, especially on her trip to Scotland and Greece. She was always up for a shopping adventure with her mother and sisters. Kathy enjoyed the outdoors, and loved spending time with her eight nieces and nephews, who affectionally called her Aunt Kiki.
She is survived by her parents, Gerald and Maxine DeFrain of Pinconning, her siblings Scott (Sharla) DeFrain of Kewadin, Barb (Marty) Galbraith of Mio, Pam (Rich) Johnson of Sterling Heights and her eight nieces and nephews: Ben, Chris and Tom Galbraith, Jared and Lindsey DeFrain, Meghan, Zach and Alex Johnson.
