Obituary of Arne Richard Jarnholm

Arne R. Jarnholm, age 71, of Midland Michigan passed away November 15, 2022. He was born November 7,1951 to the late Arne W. and Ulla E. (Westin) Jarnholm in Hagfords, Varmland, Sweden. At the age of 7, Arne immigrated with his family to Chicago, Illinois USA, where he grew up. He attended the University of Illinois, graduating with Honors, earning a BS in Engineering, with a concentration in metallurgy. After college, he worked in the steel industry as a foundry foreman. In 1977 he returned to school, attending The John Marshall School of Law, completing a Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree and then specializing in patent law. Arne began his law career in 1981 at a private practice firm in Chicago. In 1991 he moved to Midland to work for The Dow Corning Corporation. In 1999 he accepted a position with the DuPont Corporation, where he traveled internationally, successfully defending intellectual property rights. His career flourished at DuPont, where he thoroughly enjoyed his work.
Arne was a man of worthy character with a generous heart, eager to share any good fortune with family, friends, and fellow men. He was bright, quick-witted, funny, well-read, and often spoke his mind. He was an excellent billiards player and enjoyed camping, fishing, and meeting friends at Fricks and the 702. He never forgot a joke, and told them often. He was a great cook, laboring in the kitchen for hours preparing his Italian beef, spaghetti, lasagna, stuffed peppers and Polish Czrozi's. He enjoyed travel and liked to entertain. He returned to Chicago often, escorting family and friends as a personal tour guide, ensuring an excellent adventure for all.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan Ward; sister, Anne (Ken Blyler) Westin, of Tampa FL; niece, Sarah (Art) Graves, of Tampa FL; nephew, Gary (Shawna) Hein, of Durango,Colorado; cousin, Terry (Tammy) Jarnholm, of Chicago, IL; and 6 grand-nieces. He was predeceased by his nephew Ted Hein, and his best friend Tony Cashio.
A celebration of life for Arne will be held at a later date.
