Obituary of Donna Sue Woods
Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Sue Woods (Croy) was born June 29, 1946 in Lincoln Park, MI to Paul and Doris Croy. She grew up in Lincoln Park, but spent most of her adult life in Midland. Donna was married to James Joseph Woods “Woody” for 31 years until he lost his battle to cancer in 2017. Together they shared a love for travel and adventure, including trips to Montana and Alaska that left lifetime impressions. For years their favorite ways to spend time together were fishing or taking long rides to the UP on his Harley.
Donna was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, as she thrived on her close relationships. As a young woman she loved to gather with her girlfriends for music and dancing. She and her lifelong friend, Peggy Belland, were of the same heart – a sister to her – that shared a passion for horses and the pursuit of happiness. Later in life her prayer group, God’s Girls, has been central in that continued pursuit, as this group of women are so full of love and laughter. Her faith, ever present and strong, was one of her defining attributes. She truly believed in God’s grace and shared that with anyone she encountered.
Later in life, Donna learned to paint, where her love of nature and animals was expressed. Her painting group was such a source of joy.
Donna is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Todd) DeVee, Leanne Bishop, and Paula (Derek) Haddad; her brother, Dennis Croy; her niece, Cindy (Dan) McKinley; nephew, Ben (Jamie) Croy; and numerous cousins. Donna was Grandma to 8, an aspect of her life that was cherished. She was full of love and pride for her grandkids, Carley and Jake DeVee, Amanda, Sarah and Ryan Bishop, and Collin, Abram and Brynn Haddad.
