Obituary of Robert Lee Dailey, Jr.

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert “Bob” Lee Dailey Jr., age 54, of Mt Pleasant Michigan passed away December 6, 2022 after a long battle with numerous health issues. He was born in Minneapolis Minnesota to the late, Lois & Robert L. Dailey Sr. Until the age of 8, he was raised by his maternal grandparents, and then was in the foster care system in Minnesota.  He credits most of who he is & who he became, to his time at Bar None Boys Ranch in Isanti Minnesota. There he met Dave & Mary Ellen Byrne who had a huge influence on his life.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church for many years.  His faith in God became strong when he was diagnosed with Brain Cancer at the age of 19.  Doctors said he would die, but he prayed otherwise, with God answering his prayer, and living when doctors said he would not.  He continued to live with a strong and unshakeable faith until the day he died.

He loved to play cards, was an avid coin collector, and loved to look at & talk about money.  He enjoyed going to the casino to play penny slots, "not to gamble but to win", stating that he was born lucky. Family was important to Bob & he loved children.  Some of his favorite times were spent with his nieces & nephews on the floor playing board games.  He loved Monopoly best as that would teach them about money. He also gave back to those who helped him with his recovery after his brain tumor and his stroke, by serving more than 12 years as a volunteer at Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Dailey; and his two cats, Jack & Izzy. He lived by the mantra that a “happy wife was a happy life” for more than 27 years.

Bob loved strongly and was faithful to those he loved.  He is also survived by numerous siblings, in-laws that he considered siblings & step-siblings; nieces & nephews; grand-nieces & nephews; cousins; aunts & uncles.  He was preceded in death by step-father, Theotis; father-in-law, Lee; his maternal & paternal grandparents; numerous aunts & uncles.

He would want to thank all the people that participated in his care since his stroke in 2017.  It took many people over those 5 years to keep him home & safe.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, January 2, 2023, at the V.F.W., 4841 Pickard St., Mt. Pleasant MI.  A Live Celebration will be held in West St. Paul, Minnesota on July 18, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial Contributions to the Ascension St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, Saginaw Michigan.
