Glenda Pendell

Obituary of Glenda Sue Pendell

Please share a memory of Glenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

GLENDA S. PENDELL, of Ithaca, Michigan went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2022, at the age of 71, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 13, 1951, to the late Bernard and Ruth Gager in Alma, Michigan.

She was a member of the East Washington United Brethren Church in Ashley, Michigan where she enjoyed her fellowship and praying for others. She also volunteered at the church’s food pantry and the Ashley Village Polar Express.

Glenda enjoyed many things. She loved traveling. She made trips to Canada, Kentucky, Maine, and Alaska just to name a few. She enjoyed being out and about whether it be catching a movie with her husband, shopping with her daughter, eating a meal out with her son and grandson, or going to see Christmas lights with her granddaughter. She enjoyed reading Stephen Kings novels and trying her hand at cross stitch and knitting. Mostly though, she enjoyed people. She would talk to anyone and would often make a new friend by the end of the conversation. She was a true and genuine giver. She loved making others feel special whether it was sending a card for a birthday, an anniversary, or just a card for encouragement. She often gave gifts to people just because it made her feel good to share with others.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Pendell of Ithaca; her son, Troy Hooker of Sumner; her daughter, Carrie Hooker of Alma; her granddaughter, Taylor Sullivan of Alma; her grandson, Tanner Hooker of Sumner; her brother, James (Barb) Gager of Alma, sister-in law, Bev Pendell of Greenville; brother-in-law, Steve (Lori) Pendell of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hooker and son-in-law, Robert Elsea Jr.

The family would like to thank Hospice and the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant for the great care and compassion they gave to her when it was needed. Without all of you she would not have been as comfortable as she could have been. The family appreciates everything you did.

A Celebration of Life will be held January 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Washington United Brethren Church, 8051 S. Carpo Road, Ashley, Michigan 48806 with Pastor Jeff Reeser officiating.
