Obituary of Sharon Lee Williams

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sharon Lee Williams, age 77, of Vassar, Michigan, a twenty-year breast cancer survivor and often described by those who knew her as ‘the strongest woman they’d ever met’, valiantly battled melanoma for the past three years. Throughout her life, no matter the adversity she faced, Sharon always found comfort and strength in prayer and her relationship with Jesus Christ.

Born October 27, 1945, to the late Stanley F., Jr. and Virginia (LaFond) Wishowski, the Lord welcomed her home with open arms on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Her marriage in 1966 produced two daughters, Michelle (Fred) Hart and Renae (Don) Thornton, whom she adored. Her daughters and their families were her pride and joy, and she took much pleasure in celebrating the successes of her grandchildren Hillary and Samantha Schnettler, and David and Andrew Hart.

In March 1987, Sharon married Robert Williams. She then became ‘mom’ to Kathy (Dwight) Hinkle, Randy Williams, Don Williams, Mary Jo Kosanovich and Amy Williams; grandma to Erica (Damian) Martin, Chris Porter, Meagan Nix, Daniel (Kristin) Williams, Angela (Davy) Good, Brandon (Veronica) Kosanovich and Ryan Kosanovich; and 20 great grandchildren. Sharon loved spending time with her family.

Growing up on Sanford Lake with her dad and two brothers, Sharon loved the water. She was an avid swimmer and often talked about how as a young girl, the lake was her playground and that she and her brothers ‘swam everywhere.’ Her love of water stayed with her throughout her life. For many years, Charlevoix, Michigan became her happy place.

A graduate of Midland High School and University of Michigan - Flint, Sharon enjoyed a lifelong career in dentistry as a dental assistant and later as an office manager. Toward the end of her career, after many of her friends had retired, Sharon said she continued to work because her co-workers made her laugh and feel young.

Sharon loved traveling – she and Bob experienced the world together. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and most of all, was thrilled to pick up a great find at an estate sale or Home Goods!

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughters Michelle and Renae and their families; stepchildren Randy, Mary Jo, and Amy; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nephews Dennis, Randy and Shane Wishowski; extended family and close friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by stepchildren, Kathy Hinkle and Don Williams; sister, Barbara Wishowski; brothers, Stanley and Jim Wishowski; sister-in-law, Sharon; and nephew, Brian Wishowski.

With unwavering faith in our Lord, Sharon requested we celebrate her life with a Catholic Mass. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11: 00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 334 Division St., Vassar, MI 48768, with Fr.
