Obituary of Carolyn Orr Snyder

Carolyn Orr Snyder, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on December 22, 2022. She was surrounded by loved ones, candlelight and music with snow falling gently outside. She is survived by her partner, Roger Little; three daughters, Alyse Snyder (Ava Buchanan), Elayna Snyder (Dominikus Vogl) and Dawn Peña (Rafael, Ralphy); two brothers, Tom Orr (Kay) and Steve Orr (Priscilla Payne); granddaughter, Kassondra Sims (Scott); her beloved corgi, “Fi” and cat, “Mae”; and the family of her heart. 

Carolyn is known for the worlds she created and shared with her loved ones in her kitchen, garden and sewing room. She found beauty in all that she did.

She began her career running her own catering business, then worked 20+ years for the State of Michigan’s Children’s Protective Services, and later worked as a healthcare consultant.

Carolyn was driven by curiosity and a desire to see the best for those around her. She loved fiercely and built her life around being a mother, partner, friend, cook, gardener, artist, writer, animal lover, bird feeder, comedian, counselor, and problem solver. Her insight, empathy and humor inspired and sustained all those who knew her. She is deeply loved and greatly missed.

Carolyn’s Celebration of Life will be held a 3 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn Road, East Lansing Michigan.
