Leslie and I were friends for 52 years. We met when she came to Delta in 1970. We had a meeting of minds on our professional lives at Delta and our personal lives. We loved Shakespeare, meals out with our husbands and each other, and talking on our CB radios when we passed one another going opposite directions on I75.
I will always remember Leslie’s smile, her kindness, her ability to get to the heart of any problem, her personal integrity and her belief in the equality of all peoples.
She was like a sister and I will carry her in my heart.

I first encountered Leslie’s kindness and professionalism during the year she served as Interim Dean of Community Affairs in the lower level of the west concourse. She made me feel like my input really mattered . As her parting gift to me after her temporary assignment was completed, she showed me a revised organizational chart for our department with my name in a new position that launched my career in an unexpected direction at Delta. In the years to come, she continued to be supportive during my grade ombudsman and Senate President days. I will always be grateful to Leslie, and my deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers are with her family.

Leslie was my colleague at Delta College, but also became a personal friend over the years. In addition to sharing a passion for teaching, learning, and student success, we shared a mutual love for and many conversations about our Arabian horses. Leslie was strong and resilient, kind and insightful. My sincere condolences to her loved ones.

I met Leslie and first got to know her through the Leaders Program for Women in AAWCJC. This was a vital program which encouraged and provided training networks for young women in the junior and community colleges to aspire to leadership. Leslie took leave to go to Law School. She became a colleague and friend, and I grew to admire her and appreciate her advice. We shared many experiences, joys and growth with the wormens network. I treasure these memories and those I have of Leslie.

I met Leslie when I began teaching at Delta College in 1978. The community college concept was still developing then and I remember Leslie as a leader in our unique shared governance process.
Leslie worked hard for Delta College and our community of students, staff, and stakeholders. We are sad to lose such a friend and colleague.
The photo here is a small group of retired Delta women at our holiday luncheon in December of 2021.
