Our precious mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend - Connie May (Dehn) Churchfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. She was born in Midland Michigan on April 25, 1935, the eldest daughter of the late Arthur and Ann (Jablonski) Dehn.
She attended Saint Brigid Catholic School and Midland High School, graduating in 1953. On September 5, 1957, Stephen Allen Churchfield proposed to her in front of the Midland Theater before the movie “On the Waterfront”, she married the love of her life, on February 1, 1958, spending 64 wonderful years together.
She was employed at Dow Chemical, initially working in teletype, and eventually working as a secretary at Dow Corporate, also known as “the pink palace”.
Connie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, traveling with Steve on their Snow Bird Adventures to Perdido Key, Florida, and spending summers on Wixom Lake.
Connie’s joy was contagious and her smile and laugh were infectious. Her positive and bubbly personality made everyone feel so happy and loved! She had many close wonderful friends that she loved chatting on the phone with, meeting with for lunch and dinner, including the Friday Dinner Club, and her life-long card club. She was also an active member of Saint Brigid Catholic Church. However, more than anything, she had a great love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen Churchfield; children, Daniel (Maureen) Churchfield, Stephanie Stanley (Eric Schlorff), Jeff (Sarah) Churchfield, and Amy (Scott) Lasky; grandchildren, Corey, Jonathan, Devon, Ethan, Sophie, Jake, Ben, Hannah and Noah; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Ivy; sisters, Suzi Arbury and Cindy Pittman; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews that she dearly cherished.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Kings Daughters Home or Careline Hospice. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the incredible care Connie received at Kings Daughters Home in Midland Michigan, and from Careline Hospice…and don’t hesitate to have a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and peanuts in her memory.
