Obituary of William Joseph Bremer

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William “Bill” Joseph Bremer, age 70, of Clare passed away peacefully into heaven on January 29, 2023 at Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Midland Michigan.

He was born September 10, 1952 in Hemlock Michigan to the late John H. and Junella (Krick) Bremer.  He lived on the family farm until he graduated from Hemlock HS, he then attended Michigan Tech University in Houghton.  It was during his college years that he grew to love the U.P. which then led to a life filled with many outdoor adventures and trips to Brockway Mountain while picking up a pasty to eat along the way.   After leaving Michigan Tech he spent his career working in Florida, Hemlock and Mount Pleasant – retiring from Central Michigan University.  He loved his time at CMU and was an avid football fan.  He would make a $1 bet on any CMU football game just for fun and bragged each time his team won.  Bill had lots of hobbies which included gardening and bee keeping.  He had many hives and shared the honey they produced with family and friends and at local farm markets.  His favorite furry friend was his cat named “Dippy” who came and went as he pleased.

Bill is survived by his children, daughter Cheryl (Sean) Hagerty of Hemlock, and son, Adam (Lauren) Bremer of Nashville TN; grandchildren, Alexis Hagerty and Max Bremer; his brother, John (Marcella) Bremer of Harietta MI; a brother-in-law, Glenn Hubbell of Hemlock MI;many nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Hubbell.

In honor of Bill’s wishes, his family has chosen to remember his life privately.

Bill asked that in lieu of memorial donations, you instead please sprinkle some wildflower flower seeds or plant flowering bulbs and bushes to support the honey bees and think of him each year when they bloom.  If making a memorial donation please consider ProMedica Hospice - 1320 Waldo Ave, Suite 300 Midland, MI 48642.  The family wishes to thank all the staff at Stratford Pines and the Hospice staff that helped with his illness and passing.
