Catan, Coca-Cola and my Frosted Wheaties! These are the three things that I will never forget and will cherish all my life. I was blessed to serve in Saginaw for five wonderful transfers, nearly half my mission. For nine months, nearly each and every P-Day my companions and I would head over to the Nichols and whip them in some Catan, drink some soda, and drive them nuts when I won game after game. I always tell people that my favorite people in my life are those who spend the most time with me. Without a doubt Wes and Carrie were the people I loved most on my mission. The time they put into loving us like their own children I will never forget. Carrie never stopped thinking of us and putting us in the forefront of her life. Even when they were stinker missionaries and argued with her every day. She never stopped caring! I’m just grateful that I was able to facetime her a few weeks ago and tell her I loved her. My heart swells knowing that she is bluntly and lovingly going to teach and preach to those poor souls in the spirit world. I can hear her now calling people out and guiding them back to the correct path. Heavenly Father just returned a powerful missionary. Someone who I can only hope to emulate. Someone who showed true love to all. I love you Sister Nichols and I will see you again. I love you Brother Nichols and I’m sorry you have to live the rest of this life without your better half. I just hope she got to Frost Your Wheaties one last time before she moved on to the next chapter.
Love your favorite missionary,
Elder Nathan Palmer
Ps. I hope my photo is still hanging on that fridge!!!
