Mr. Greer, age 81, passed away on Saturday March 19, 2023 at his home.  James was born in Gladwin, Michigan on April 21, 1941 to the late Harry A. and Veda L. (Hayward) Greer.  Jim was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963 and then joined the Naval reserves.   He was a member of Winlock Assembly of God.  Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers-in-law, Larry (Cindy) Meddaugh and Kevin (Alesha) Meddaugh, and his nephew Keegan.  He also enjoyed playing music, writing poetry, gardening on the patio, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was active with the social programs at Ivy Terrace. 

Mr. Greer is survived by his wife, Diane (Tonia Farmer) Meddaugh-Greer; his former wife, Viola Ellison and their four children, Rebecca (Kelly) Lemaster, James (Melissa) Greer Jr. Mark (Kassie) Greer, and Jeffrey (Erin) Greer; former wife, Linda Lee and their two children Shannon Van Cleve and Stephanie (Jesse) Yates; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Greer; and sisters, Joyce Entrekin and Patsy Greer.   

A Life Celebration Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Oak Grove Church, 5636 Cedar Lake Road, Gladwin, Michigan 48624.  Pastor Paul will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.   Interment with Military Honors will take place at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, Washington, 98042.
