Obituary of Carole Anne Gathman

Carole Anne Gathman passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2023 at the age of 82. She was born on June 20, 1940 to the late Louis & Margaret (Kearns) Wenger in Mansfield, Ohio. She married Steve Gathman in 1959 and they moved to Michigan for Steve to work for GM. They had three children, Steve, Michael and Alyssa. Carole graduated from Hurley School of Nursing in 1975 and worked as an R.N. at Hurley Medical Center in the ICU and ER until 1987. She then moved to Marin County, California, where she worked as a nurse in many roles including in the ER at Marin General Hospital,  Home Care and on a cruise ship in the Hawaiian Islands as the ship’s nurse before founding her own business. Carole started CPR Etc. teaching CPR to first responders and many others. She successfully ran that business for over 20 years and took great pride in knowing that lives were saved through the training provided in her classes. She moved back to Michigan in 2019 and lived with family until her passing.

Carole is survived by son, Steve (Mary) Gathman of Odessa, FL and Alyssa (Todd) Pillsbury of Flint, Michigan; grandchildren, Christina Gathman, Stephen Gathman, Cayla (Kris) Crosby, Sarah (Kyle) Landis, Mariah (Jack) Hart, and Noah (Melanie) Pillsbury; great-grandchildren, Rowen and Isla Hart, and Riley Pillsbury; sisters, Gayle O’Hara of Sonoma, CA and Peggy (Allen) Blotney of Plano, TX.   She was preceded in death by son, Michael Gathman and ex-husband, Steve Gathman.  The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Sasha, Caterina, Sabrina and Tanya from Residential Home Health and Hospice.
