Obituary of Mark Norman Miller

Passed away on March 17, 2023 at the age of 65 years. Mark was born in 1957 to the late Paul and Clarissa (Chris) Miller of Pontiac, Michigan. Mark was an extraordinary communicator.  He enjoyed keeping up with his entire extended family, spending time with others, hand crafting greeting cards for friends and relatives, watching movies and listening to and singing his favorite music selections.  Mark’s life was impacted by the developmental disorder Prader-Willi Syndrome that left him with many lifelong challenges. His mother, Clarissa, worked with other families and State of Michigan officials to establish homes for adults with Prader-Willi syndrome. Thanks to the success of her efforts, Mark spent 30-plus years living in these homes in Mt. Pleasant and Clare. Mark’s brothers and sister are grateful for the hard work and dedication by those who assisted Mark and his family in helping to keep him healthy, happy and engaged with his community. Mark was truly one of a kind.

 

Mark is survived by his siblings, Peter Miller (Dianne), Stephen Miller, and Anne Throop (Stewart), his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephew. A memorial celebration of Mark’s life is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association/USA at www.pwsausa.org.
