Thompson, Elizabeth A.

Saginaw, MI

Elizabeth A. Thompson, lovingly known as Liz, passed away on April 1, 2023, at the young age of 36. She was born on November 30, 1986, to the late Laurie Marie (Schneider) Thompson of Midland.  Liz was a ray of sunshine and brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Her free spirit and captivating smile lit up any room she entered, and her charming personality made her a beloved friend to many. She was a fun-loving person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Liz was a loving and devoted mother to her son, Greysen Kalel Van Haaren, age 5. They shared a special bond and enjoyed spending time together outdoors, collecting rocks, studying the moon and stars, fishing, and playing at the park. Her love for her son was evident in everything she did, and she was proud to watch him grow and learn.  In addition to her love for her son, Liz had a passion for cats and music, particularly Shinedown. She was also a talented artist and followed in her mother's footsteps by taking up cake decorating as a hobby. Liz had a warm heart and a special place in it for her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Liz is survived by her son, Greysen; her co-parent, Branden Van Haaren; Branden's mother, Dawn Van Haaren; Branden's sister, and Cortney Dartey, all of Saginaw; sisters, Shannon Banks and Emily Thompson, both of Midland; and Nadia Richards of Wisconsin. She is also survived by her grandmother, Wilma Schneider of Midland; nieces and nephews, Dakota and Wyatt Banks, Sierra Del Moral, Kayla Schneider, Caitance, Jorja, and Tiffany Richards, and Haidyn Schneider; uncles, Michael (Irene) Schneider and Timothy Schneider, both of California; aunts, Cathy Schneider of Beaverton, Julie Schneider of Sterling, and Rebecca (Mike) Kieliszewski of Alpena; and many dear cousins and friends. Liz was predeceased by her mother, Laurie Marie (Schneider) Thompson; her grandfather, Frederick Robert Schneider; and her cousins, Theryn Micheal Bass and Skylar Sue Stube.

In respect of Liz's wishes, there will be no funeral. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held in her honor. For those who would like to attend her celebration of life, you can contact Elizabeth's sisters Emily or Shannon, or her son's father Branden for the details. Liz will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her kind heart, and her love for life. She often said, "It's never goodbye, it's until we meet again," and we know that she will be watching over us until we meet again.
