Obituary of Gail Ellen Sype

Gail Ellen Sype, age 68, passed away April 12, 2023 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.  She was born July 3, 1954 to the late Carl and Velma (Buck) Sype.  Gail started her educational path at Holy Ghost Lutheran School in Monroe, Michigan.  From there she attended high school at Monroe High, earned her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and a PhD from Michigan State University.

 

Gail’s professional journey began as an MBA program director at Millsaps College from 1982-1984.  She instructed at Grand Valley State University from 1985-1990, and from there, she taught as an Associate Professor at Saginaw Valley State University, retiring in 2020 after 30 years in education.

 

Gail will be remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit, and generosity to her family and friends.  She loved animals and was mom to many kitties over the years.  She was an avid genealogist, tracing back multiple generations for both the Sype and Buck families.  Gail was also interested in a variety of crafting projects.

 

She leaves god-daughters, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends to cherish her memory. Gail’s final resting place is with her family in Gethsemane Cemetery in Monroe, Michigan.
