Obituary of Kevin Gillmore

Kevin Dock Gillmore just shipped out for his last Sail.  Kevin died early May 2023 with a comfortable look upon his face, HE WAS AT PEACE at last.  Kevin was born in early February 1968, and took an early liking to the great outdoors.  Kevin enjoyed sailing, fly and lite spin fishing, He was also an avid small-game hunter with his dogs.

Upon graduation from the Bangor School System, Kevin followed what many new graduates do, wandering about, from job to job, trying to find themselves. He even went so far as spending over a year in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Soon after returning to the Bay City area, the decision was made.  Kevin enrolled in the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City, Michigan, as a Merchant Marine Engineering Officer, Third Class Candidate.  Upon graduation, Kevin sailed the Great Lakes for a few years, then moved onto the Deep Sea where he last sailed.  Kevin sailed most of the world's waters and visited many ports, spending much of his time on the Indian Ocean. While advancing to the final rank of Chief Engineer, which he disliked, too much paperwork you know.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth Gillmore of Bay City Michigan; and a brother, Brett Gillmore of Upper Hutt, New Zealand.
