Obituary of Marjorie Ann Colbert

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marjorie "Marjie" A. Colbert of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on May 22, 2023 at the age of 92.  She was born on August 3, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to Curtis and Evelyn Pressler.  Marjie is survived by a daughter, Lynn VanTonne, of Cheboygan, Michigan; a grandson, Ryan VanTonne and his wife Kate of Bay City, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Gene Sauer of Lewiston, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Brad Colbert; and her sister, Carol Sauer.

Marjorie enjoyed travelling to spend time with her daughter and son in Arizona, Virginia, Colorado, Maryland, Washington DC, Florida, and California.  A highlight during one of those trips was a chance sighting of the "First Dog," President and Mrs. Reagan's dog, Lucky, during a tour of the White House. Special memories include Marjie singing, at the top of her lungs: "America the Beautiful" out the car window while driving across the Great Plains with her daughter.  She did not hesitate to engage in light saber competitions with her young grandson, and spent hours of togetherness reading every Harry Potter book to him out loud.  Following up with seeing each of the movies as they came out was looked forward to with great anticipation.  Marjie was a very skilled artist and dollmaker.  Her sketches and drawings of pinup girls, models and movie stars were exceptional.  She had a big heart and soft spot for any dog she encountered and provided wonderful lives for many which had been abandoned or given up on by others.

Cremation has taken place, and Marjie will be interred at Chapel Hill Mausoleum in Freeland, Michigan. The family wishes to thank Symphony Tri-Cities (formerly Caretel Inns of Tri Cities) for the loving care Marjorie was provided while she resided with them, as well as ProMedica Hospice.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Michigan or a charity of the donor's choice.  To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com  Arrangements made with the Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan.
