Our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend Jerry “Mr. G”, walked thru Heaven’s gate on May 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. Mr. G. was born in North Dakota to the late Dorothy (Brooker) Beaumont & Ludvig Gilbertson on April 4, 1943. His family then moved to Michigan about the age of 4, He was raised on the family farm in Alpena, Michigan. He settled in Owosso after he married Karla Hall on July 28, 1979, and she survives him. He loved Drag Racing in which he had won several awards. His other hobbies also included softball, bowling, and deer hunting camp. He and his brother were into CBs and his handle was “Bucksnort”, he loved U of M, and was also very fond of Chevrolet, he really disliked Ford. Mr. G. loved when the family gathered either at his home in the garage, up north on the family farm, at the campground in Lachine, or at Beaver Lake for picnics and reunions.
Surviving besides his wife, Karla of 44 years, are his children, Zonya Gilbertson, and Sheri Roy both of Clio, Jerry (Cindy Duncan) Gilbertson Jr, and Tammy Gilbertson both of Owosso, Paul (Tracy) Gilbertson of Spokane, Washington, and Karla’s son, Todd Walter of Owosso. Mr. G. had a chosen family that was also close to him, Sharon Robinson and her daughter, Maggie Robinson. Mr. G. has 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille ”Lucy” & Jim Jackson, Patty Fisk, and Elsie O’lear; also, many nieces and nephews; and his favorite labs “Duke” and “Duchess”.
Mr. G was preceded in death by his beloved parents; siblings, Eugene Beaumont, June Beaumont-Brooker, Betty Kelly, Royce Gilbertson, Rodney Gilbertson, Anna Peckham, & Dennis Gilbertson; daughter-in-law, Genaya Gilbertson; sons-in-law, Tom Hall & Scott Roy; deer hunting partner and beloved great-nephew, Trevor “Scooby” Perryman; mother and father-in-law, Harry & Shirley Hall; and the mother of his children, Josephine Evans.
The Gilbertson family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice & Home care for their care.
