Obituary of Peter Robert Brown

Peter Robert Brown of Midland, Michigan was born on May 16, 1942 and died on June 13, 2023 at age 81 at My Michigan Health Center. 

Peter was predeceased by his mother Fern Marsh Brown and father Robert Livingston Brown, his sister Martha Alice Brown Ovaitt, his aunt Helen Marsh Stilbert and his niece Elizabeth Ann Brown as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He is survived by his brothers William E. Brown, PhD (partner Sandi Blanton) of Albuquerque, NM and George H. Brown (sister-in-law Delice) of Springfield VA; former brother-in-law Ron Ovaitt (wife Vickie); nieces Emily Ovaitt Baker of Sault St. Marie, MI, Lauren Brown Lewis, MD of New York City and Morgan Brown of Arlington VA; nephews Alexander Brown of Los Angeles, CA, Adam Ovaitt and Caleb Ovaitt of Bay City, MI; as well as many friends.

Peter was a 1961 graduate of Midland High School and attended Delta College.  He was a long-time employee of Quick Reliable Printing and recently of Cottage Inn Pizza, both of Midland.

Peter was a member of Midland First United Methodist Church where he sang for many years in the choir.

Peter was a happy, joyful man with a generous heart who was always willing to help anyone.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Midland First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 29 with visitation at 10 AM, service in the sanctuary at 11 AM followed by a luncheon at the church.

Peter’s ashes will nourish the beautiful plants in the Memorial Garden at the church.  Family and friends are invited to visit the garden before and/or after the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Midland First United Methodist Church; to Midland Center for  the Arts, where Peter worked on many performances; or to Humane Society of Midland County, where Peter adopted his three cats and where they were placed for adoption.
