Obituary of Michael Thomas Moormann
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael T. Moormann of Saginaw, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was 74 years old. Michael was born March 19, 1949 to Bernard and Rosemarie Moormann in Homewood, Illinois. He attended Marian Catholic High School, and went on to earn his Master’s degree in theater, as well becoming a Physician’s Assistant and Perfusionist for Cardiovascular Surgery. He met the love of his life Eva, while they were both working at St. Mary’s Hospital, and they have been married for 35 years. They have 3 sons Ryan, Alec and Benjamin Moormann.
Michael enjoyed spending time on his property, and could always be found mowing the yard, riding his tractor, gardening, or in his shop tinkering and fixing the many vehicles that came in that required his attention. He especially loved Sundays, when the family would have a wonderful time with a big dinner and card/game night. He was a loving and patient father and husband, who always had time to listen to anyone who needed his time. And he was always known to have a pun ready for any occasion.
Prior to, and at times during, his career as a Physician’s Assistant, Mike also enjoyed working in local theater productions. He loved the Boy Scouts, and he had earned an Eagle Scout rank himself, as well as he enjoyed the many years that his own sons were in the Scouts. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 321 for several years as well. He was a masterful craftsman who not only built a home for his family, but also built his pole barn and man cave that he enjoyed going to every day to build or repair something.
Michael was preceded in death by his sister Roberta Brannon, brother-in-law Richard Kumicich, and parents Bernard and Rosemarie Moormann. He is survived by his wife Eva, and son’s Ryan, Alec, and Benjamin Moormann, brother Bernard (Carol) Moormann, and sister Patricia Kumicich; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
