Obituary of Shawn Patrick Doyle

Shawn Patrick Doyle, age 49, our loving son, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, Jun 22, 2023 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side. Shawn was born on June 13, 1974, in Bay City, Michigan to Moran and Kathleen (Ennis) Doyle.  He defied the odds and lived 45 years past his life expectancy. As a young child, you would see him cruising down the street on his Big Wheel, which he soon traded in for roller skates, then speed skates, and finally, a microphone.  A lover of music, Shawn had a passion for being a DJ. No matter where life led him career wise, Shawn remained true to his calling as a DJ; making many friends and memories along the way. 

Shawn was the life of the party and shined his light wherever he went.  He was a great storyteller and always had a joke to tell, a story to share, or a word of encouragement to give. In spite of the health problems Shawn faced his entire life, he remained positive and felt it was his duty to give back to others. He donated much of his time and talent to help others through various charities around the community simply because he was a good person.  He didn’t ask for much in return.  A cold drink around a campfire with friends was where Shawn felt the best.

Shawn is survived by his father and step-mother, Moran and Shirley Doyle, of Bay City; his sister, Michelle Doyle-Sabourin of Bay City; and his brother David (Marquise) Doyle of Grand Rapids.  He is also survived by his niece and nephews; Spencer (Liz) Doyle of Midland, Shelby (Cabien) Everitt of Grand Rapids, Austin (Alena) Sabourin of Bay City, and Dylan (Gabryelle) Sabourin of San Diego, CA, as well as great nieces and nephews, Zoey and Mateo Sabourin, Renly Sabourin, and Isla Everitt. Shawn was welcomed home by his mother Kathy Doyle, and his aunt and uncle (Godparents) Mary and Gary LaPrairie.

The family would like to thank the CCU at McLaren for the wonderful care Shawn received. 

A warrior to the very end, it was Shawn’s last wish to be an organ donor.  Because of Shawn, there will be other people in the world who will continue to thrive. 

Shawn did not want a funeral.  In true Doyle fashion, he wanted a celebration of his life.  This celebration will occur for family and friends on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Willew Lounge, 3005 E.
